Judy dBoer"Art and design are my life. Both as a set and costume designer in theatre and as a fine artist, my world centres on style, aesthetics, the visual and the physical."

While still in high school Judy took college classes in commercial art and fashion before enrolling in Foundation Studies in Art at Sheridan College. Upon returning to Ottawa, she dabbled in fashion design and showed in many fashion shows while taking courses in photography. It was her fashion portfolio which earned her entrance to the National Theatre School of Canada’s Theatre Design Program. Once again she found herself studying colour theory, life drawing and technical drawing. More painting classes followed at the Ottawa School of Art.

Judy has since designed for numerous professional and amateur theatres in the region and taught Costume Design at the University of Ottawa. Her transition to painting has been steady and ever consuming and Judy was an active member and on the executive board of The Artists of Stonebridge for over 6 years. Her artwork has been displayed in different venues around the city including a solo exhibit of mixed media works at Galerie La Petite Mort and as part of the City of Ottawa Visual arts Exhibition Space at MRCB.

Judy loves the physicality of painting large pieces which comes from her experience painting sets. While mostly painting in acrylic her goal is to merge all of her skills, strengths and diverse interests in one form of artistic expression.

Judy resides in Ottawa, Ontario.
